What it means to let listeners shape part of this world.
For a long time the only place a song's meaning got decided was in my head, in the studio, before anyone else heard it. The Memory Archive flips that — it's a living, public record of what these songs have actually become once they left me.
Some of what's been submitted so far is funny, some of it is genuinely difficult to read, and almost none of it is what I expected. A proposal on Camps Bay beach. A sister who isn't here anymore. A four-year-long way back home. None of that was in the song when I wrote it, and all of it is the song now.
I'm not trying to turn this into a curated highlight reel. The plan is to keep it open, keep it unfiltered where we reasonably can, and let it grow alongside the music rather than behind it.
